Scoopi is a toy retailer selling “slimes”, plushies and other sensory products.  The design concept is a child’s imagination of what a factory for slime might look like.  Colourful pipes form the furniture and extend across the ceiling of the space.

Scoopi is a sensory retail experience and the design aims to enhance the interactivity with its products. Like Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, the store creates a sense of wonder and possibiliy, simultaneously a blank canvass and a source of creativity.  Shelving takes on an industrial form, and white space is important to ensure the colour, tactility and smells of the products are in focus.

Part factory and part workshop—customers are invited to play with the products, with designated areas for kids to create their own slime “flavours”.  The DIY Bar enables customers to “experience” the store, and aligns with the brand’s hand-made ethos for its slime products.

We used colour theory and the Scoopi branding to create a palette that attracted attention, but was carefully muted to avoid sensory overload.  New Orleans-based graphic designer and artist, Logan Ledford’s minimalist approach to colour was a source of inspiration.  Her use of sporadic colour, organic forms and grid-like compositions are a direct reference for the Scoopi design.
