This project involved the interior redesign of an existing waterfront home in Castlecrag. The design focuses on improving how the interior relates to the site, with wide views across the inlet guiding decisions around layout, light, and material.
Within the existing structure, key living spaces were adjusted to better engage with the water and to create clearer connections between rooms. Natural light was a central consideration, with openings refined and a new skylight introduced to bring daylight deeper into the living areas. Sightlines were clarified, allowing light and views to extend further through the plan and giving the interior a stronger sense of openness and continuity.
The material palette is restrained and consistent throughout the home. Joinery is integrated to provide storage and support everyday use, reducing visual clutter and allowing the architecture and setting to take precedence. Finishes were selected for suitability to the coastal environment.
The result is an interior that feels calm, cohesive, and closely connected to its setting, demonstrating how careful, considered design can significantly enhance an existing home without altering its fundamental structure.
